Colorado oil and gas regulators have declared an environmental emergency at a drilling rig in Windsor.
For Ridge West resident Brett Holland, the drilling rig in his backyard is more than an eyesore, "Not only the lake, but the Poudre River is right below this."
The Coloradoan reported the rig became unstable a week ago and according to a cease-and-desist order issued by the state of Colorado, landfill trash was expelled from the well during operations.
The rig, owned by Greeley-based company Ranchers Exploration was moved last year to its current site, but residents feel more regulations are needed.
