JUNE 12, 2012, FORT COLLINS, COLO. – Scott E. Bush CPA, CVA, shareholder of Soukup, Bush & Associates, CPAs, P.C. and member of Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants (COCPA) for over twenty years, has been named Chair of the Board of Directors of the COCPA.
With over 8,500 members, Bush's one-year term began on May 1. The 11-member Board is the COCPA's governing body which controls COCPA funds and property, supervises affairs and is responsible for statements of position to the public, budget approval and other major policy matters. COCPA is the statewide, not-for-profit, professional association serving Colorado CPAs and the public for over 100 years.
"It is an honor to Chair the COCPA Board as we are going to have an exciting year which we've themed ‘Charting Our Course Through Change,'" Bush said. "Several exciting events will be taking place this year such as Leadership Council, where we will have Greg Anton CPA, current Chair of the AICPA (American Institute of CPAs), present to talk about national leadership issues, an opportunity to discuss current changes in our profession, as well as hear from Jeff Evans, author of Mountain Vision: Lessons Beyond the Summit. Later this year at our annual celebration, the "CPAs Who Make A Difference Gala", we will have an opportunity to recognize CPAs who make outstanding contributions to their communities and raise money for our educational foundation which provides accounting scholarships for students."
Colorado born and raised, Bush is the partner in charge of the audit, accounting and valuation practice for Soukup, Bush & Associates, CPAs, P.C., with expertise in income tax and estate planning, valuation, accounting, auditing and management consulting. Bush holds a B.S. in Business Administration, Accounting, from the University of Northern Colorado.
