
Because of the shooting in Aurora, many people have filled gun stores wanting to purchase a weapon causing a large spike in sales of firearms.
There has been an average 15% increase in gun sales statewide, and we talked to owners of gun stores throughout Fort Collins that said that is pretty typical after an event like the shooting in Aurora.
To buy a gun, you have to go through an application process which is essentially a background check. They submit a form to the Colorado Bureau of Investigations.
Last week, the number of people applying for a gun was consistently between 50-60 at a time which is about 20 people above the average.
We also spoke with Angie Corp from the Larimer County Sheriff's Department. She said that the number of people coming in to get a concealed weapons permit has certainly gone up.
