Northern Colorado 5, a CBS Affiliate serving Northern Colorado and the cities of Fort Collins, Loveland and Greeley is hosting its Second Congressional District debate featuring U.S. House of Representative Jared Polis and Colorado State Senator Kevin Lundberg.

The debate will be held at 7 p.m., Oct. 9, 2012 in the Grand Ballroom at the Hilton Fort Collins.

"Larimer County is now in 2nd Congressional District, meaning that our representatives and their platforms have changed.  This debate allows voters to determine who is the best candidate to represent the 2nd Congressional District," said Tregg White, station manager of Northern Colorado 5.

Questions to the candidates during the hourlong debate will be presented by a panel of four.  The debate will include two rounds. The first round involves questions to both candidates from the panel.  The second round will feature specific questions to the candidates.

"This is a great opportunity for citizens of the 2nd Congressional District to learn more about the choices they have for their representation in Congress. I hope we will have several forums like this to discuss the issues most significant to the people of Colorado's 2nd Congressional District." said Senator Kevin Lundberg.

Congressman Jared Polis said, "I look forward to putting forward my vision for the America to the voters, I believe strongly that our elected officials need to do more to come together to reignite the American Dream and build ladders of opportunity for all. I am looking forward to sharing my vision and the work I have done at the Northern Colorado 5 debate."

The debate is free and open to the public.  The debate will be recorded and played in its entirety on October 10, 2012 at 9 p.m. on Northern Colorado 5.
