This is the first week of the detours around Prospect and College in Fort Collins. Crews will be working seven days a week, 12 hours a day to accomplish the work on Prospect.
The road construction is expected to last until early April. In the meantime, drivers will be faced with detours and possibly long traffic delays.
The road works is all part of the city's Max Transit plan. Here's a list of what's happening on the Max Transit construction plan.

What's New in MAX Construction:
- Prospect Road between College and Centre Avenue – CLOSED on either side of the BNSF railroad tracks through mid-April. Access to businesses on Prospect within the closure area will be maintained, and signs will direct drivers to nearby businesses. Detour routes are be posted; please allow extra time to reach your destination.
- McClelland Drive, south of Foothills Pkwy – CLOSED through mid-April. Businesses are accessible, watch for posted detour routes.
- Troutman Underpass at Mason Trail – NOW OPEN!
Ongoing MAX Construction Projects – What to Expect:
- Mason Street – Occasional lane closures to grade ballast next to the railroad tracks and for potholing activity this week.
- Downtown Transit Center station: Northbound Mason Street between Laporte Avenue and Maple Street - CLOSED in front of the DTC through April.
- Northbound Mountain station: Northbound Mason, north of the Mountain Avenue intersection - CLOSED for about 100 feet, through April.
- Southbound Mountain station: Southbound Mason, south of the Mountain Avenue intersection – CLOSED for about 100 feet, through April.
- Southbound Olive station: Southbound Mason, south of the Olive Street intersection - CLOSED for about 100 feet, through April.
- Mason from Laurel to University – Lane closures for irrigation work.
- Eastbound Harmony, west of College - Watch for intermittent lane closures as crews access the jobsite.
- Mason Trail south of Harmony - Closed but will be opened as possible.
