GREELEY – Northern Colorado Baseball Coach Carl Iwasaki announces the addition of two more players to the roster for next season and brings his recruiting class to 10. Spencer Johnson and Connor Leedholm will join the Bears for the fall, 2013 semester.
The duo joins Carter Cummins, Alex Drew, Jake Ekman, Jake Garcia, Cale O'Donnell, Dan Reese, Brett Stone and Nick Tanner to those who have committed to the Bears family.
Spencer Johnson, RHP, 6-1, 180, Centennial, Colo. (Grandview HS)
As a junior, Johnson hit .533 for the Wolves and had a 2.73 ERA in 25 2/3 innings pitched… He had four wins and one save on the hill… Midway through his senior season, he has already won three games with one shutout and has a 1.59 ERA in 22 innings thrown… He has been named to the honor roll every semester of his high school career and is also a three-year academic letterwinner… Helped Grandview win the Centennial League championship in both 2010 and 2011.
"Spencer is very cerebral when he takes the mound," Iwasaki said. "This right hander gets better by the outing and we look forward to his addition to the pitching staff."
Connor Leedholm, RHP/INF, 6-0, 195, Lakewood, Colo. (Lakewood HS)
Leedholm looks to become another two-way player for the Bears, as he plays the left side of the infield as well as pitches for the Tigers… He is captain of the baseball team and was on the gridiron as well… Is a three-time all-conference pick, earning honors on the diamond in 2010 and 2012 and in football in 2013… Entering his senior season, he was hitting .360 for his high school career and is currently hitting .390 with a 2.80 ERA in 20 innings pitched… He is also a two-time academic letterwinner… Helped the Grandview football team finish as the state runners-up in 2011 as a quarterback.
"Connor is a leader who will have the opportunity to play the infield, and pitch for us, as a freshman," Iwasaki said. "He was the quarterback on his football team and he is extremely outgoing."
